Dance among the Water Lilies • Emmanuel Eggermont, L’Anthracite About Love and Death (elegy for Raimund Hoghe)
7 pm and 8.30 pm, Water Lilies Room

This danced elegy expresses the iconographic and musical palette developed by Raimund Hoghe, a choreographer who was also Pina Bausch’s dramaturge, along with the populated kinesthesia of Emmanuel Eggermont’s imagination. From the fantasy of a dreamed fauna to the syncopated ardor of a Josephine Baker, Eggermont’s evocations proliferate as he recomposes this emotional world with extraordinary finesse. A vibrant invitation to (re)discover the work of a vanished choreographer through one of its most faithful interpreters.

About Love and Death, (elegy for Raimund Hoghe)
Emmanuel Eggermont was a sublime dancer for and collaborator with the great Raimund Hoghe, with whom he created eight pieces. With inspiration and generosity, the young choreographer has composed a kaleidoscope of suspended moments, in which love and death serve as a backdrop. He gets them dialoguing with other personal materials, with a view to imagining new works in remembrance of his mentor, whom he embodies with finesse in order to express the passage of time; the loss of beings dear to us and life that goes on, whether melancholic or joyful…
About Love and Death bears witness to a collaboration between two artists dedicated to a delicate yet powerful form of dance and to an essential presence at the origin of movement. From Debussy to Judy Garland, the soundtrack intertwines popular music dear to the German choreographer who died in 2021, extracts from films and great classics. This solo, woven from suspended moments, gives rise to a variety of unsettling sensations, shaping a fragmented, universal landscape where metamorphosis and sincerity reign supreme.
